When Siemens Energy decided it was time to enter a new chapter in their long-standing history in the region, they approached SAY Studio to create a stunning new space to achieve their ambition for a de-carbonized future. Formerly Khalifa University’s cafeteria, the restructured space has shifted its design focus from functionality to innovation. The entire workspace is built around the central exhibition/display area, which allows for a large collaborative area. The exhibition/display area features a myriad of solutions that enable the space’s rapid reconfiguration from a townhall, to a guest event space, to informal collaboration areas. These solutions include stadium seating for large presentations, 3D-printed furniture, and state-of-the-art projection screens that adapt to the space’s multi-functionality. In this way, the space is transformed into an experience in which collaboration and the creative exchange of ideas are promoted, while providing the necessary support for a space that stimulates innovation. Office ‘neighborhoods,’ meeting spaces, focus areas, and the breakout are around the exhibition/display area.
